2010 10th International Symposium on CBM/CMM in China is Successfully held by CCII

On October 19th-21st, 2010 the 10th International Symposium on CBM/CMM in China, sponsored by the State Administration of Coal Mine Safety and the USEPA, and undertaken by CCII was held in Beijing Landmark Hotel. Mr. Wang Shuhe, Vice Administrator and Chief Engineer of the State Administration of Coal Mine Safety, Dr. Pamela Franklin and Ms. Felicia Ruiz from USEPA, Ms. Carlotta Segre from UNECE, Directors from the State Administration of Coal Mine Safety, and Mr. Huang Shengchu, President of CCII, Mr. Lv Jingmin, Mr. Zhang Wenshan, Mr. He Guojian, and Mr. Dong Ruilin, Vice Presidents of CCII, attended the Symposium. Total of over 120 experts and representatives from 12 government agencies, research institutes, and enterprises both at home and abroad also attended the Symposium.
 
Mr.Wang Shuhe,Vice Administrator of the State Administration of Coal Mine Safety, attended the opening ceremony and delivered a significant statement. He emphasized that the Circular of the State Council on Strengthening Enterprise Work Safety should be applied and CMM recovery and utilization should be enhances, so as to improve coal mine safety. In the symposium, issues concerning CBM resources, CBM/CMM development, Best Practice Guidance for Effective Methane Drainage and Use in Coal Mines, CBM/CMM recovery and utilization technology were discussed. President Huang made a presentation with the title of Current Situation of CBM/CMM Recovery and Utilization and Preferential Polices in China.
  
The UNECE Roundtable Meeting of Best Practice Guidance for Effective Methane Drainage and Use in Coal Mines and the 2010 Methane to Markets Partnership Coal Mine Subcommittee Meeting is held as part of the Symposium. President Huang Shengchu presented at the meeting and delivered a speech as the Co-chair of the M2M Coal Subcommittee. According to Dr. Pamela Franklin, an official from USEPA, the government of the United State will pledge 50 million USD to new Global Methane Initiative to support the implementation of methane emissions reduction projects and technologies in the five sectors of coal mining, landfill, oil and natural gas, agriculture and wastewater.
 
The Symposium has provided an opportunity to promote the new technology for CBM/CMM recovery and utilization and project development, as well as to build a platform between CCII and other international institutions and foreign companies for international cooperation.
